We love Italy! I had the unique opportunity to live in Italy for 18 months when I was in my 20s. One of the first perceptions I came away with was the friendliness of the people. Unlike the (alleged) reputation of the French, Italians love it when foreigners try to speak their language. They are supportive of your efforts and they will smile and help you along. To this day, I love trying to speak Italian when I am in Italy.
Italy is also a beautiful and historically rich country known for its art, culture, and food. Italy's diverse landscape extends from the Alps in the north, through the rolling hills of the central regions, then down long coastlines to famous islands like Sicily and Sardinia.
Historically, Italy was the home of the powerful Roman Empire and the birthplace of the Renaissance. I never tire of seeing the art and sculpture of Di Vinci and Michelangelo, or visiting majestic sites such as the Colosseum or Leaning Tower of Pisa. Trent swears that Venice is an amateur photographers dream! You just cannot take a bad picture in the “floating city.”
